Vision Health Center, P.C. is a private practice with two locations: Dubuque and Bellevue, IA. The doctors and staff pride themselves on providing exceptional individualized care with advanced technology and products. We practice full-scope optometry for all demographics. The two locations, in a city setting and a rural setting, although only 25 miles apart, present vastly different clinical experiences that will provide complete exposure to everything that being a primary eye care provider entails. Students will be exposed to advanced medical exams, including urgent care (trauma, infection, etc.), as well as routine vision exams for spectacles and contact lenses. The student may have the opportunity to observe the specialists that we refer to as a practice. This would include an OD in a MD setting, a cataract surgeon, corneal specialist, retinal specialist, and vision therapist.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Understand the complexity of a primary eye care provider and demonstrate competency in providing care of the patient as a person, not only a pair of eyes.
 

2. Use academic knowledge to guide individualized well constructed care plans for every patient.
 

3. Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of private practice optometry: clinical care, billing/coding, and optical.
