Student Review

"If you are interested in private practice this is an excellent site. You have to learn the system at the practice before you get to see patients yourself. This means learning how the patients are worked up (yes this means you will be doing some tech work ie. VA, entrance test, etc.) but once your efficient and the doctors know your competent they will trust you to do the full exam.
This is mainly primary care optometry but the doctors do practice to the full extent of our profession which is nice to see in the real world. The doctors manage ocular disease and also have a VT program. You will be confident fitting soft spherical, toric, and multifocal contact lenses. They do fit GP and specialty lenses. You will be working long intern hours, including Saturdays but you do have a day in the week off. There are satellite offices but you will only travel to them 1-2x/week. Towards the end of your rotation you will have set days with a schedule of patients to see your own. This is nice because it helps solidify your confidence before you start practicing on your own. Overall this is a good site, and if you put your time in you will learn to be efficient and confident in your skills. All the doctors are willing to answer your questions and let you perform exams once they are comfortable with your skills."
