Learning Objectives:
The student will develop a greater understanding of anterior segment disease, both clinically and surgically.
The student will develop a greater understanding of glaucoma, and anterior segment disease, both clinically and surgically.
The student will develop a greater understanding of the various corneal procedures available and how to determine candidacy for them.
The student will develop a greater understanding of post-operative care for a variety of procedures including cataract, corneal refractive procedures, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, tube shunts, DMEK/DSEK, blepharoplasty, etc.
The student may rotate through specialty contact lens clinic once a week.

Arrival procedure for students:
Proof of annual flu shot is required.
Contact Dr. Schweitzer 2 weeks prior to start of the rotation.
A handbook will be available upon arrival. On the first day, ask at front desk for Dr. Schweitzer.

"My experience at VTV was phenomenal. I encountered many diseases/conditions that I had never seen before. Also, I was able to see far more patients daily than anywhere I had been prior. I felt that the doctors were genuinely interested in how I would treat a patient. They encouraged me to document my assessment and plan before they saw the patients. They did not always agree with my assessments and plans, but they would provide their rationale in a non-critical way. They created a great environment to learn and grow as a clinician. I am fortunate that I was able to do a rotation at VTV, and I feel that it provided me with an opportunity unlike any other."
