Student Review
"This site offered a diverse experience from seeing 5-month-old patients coming in for ROP checks, up to geriatric patients who are managed for end-stage diseases. It was great to work with primary care optometrists, pediatric optometrists, the urgent care clinic, retina omds, glaucoma omds, oculoplastic omds, neuro omds, pediatric omds, and general omds. It was great to work with so many different attendings and learn the new surgical procedures and treatments in optometry and ophthalmology today. You also get experience in specialty contact lenses, low vision and working with pediatrics for specialty contact lens fits and exams under anesthetics. I would definitely pick this site again! Dr. Sanders was an amazing preceptor and I really enjoyed working with her! She was always patient and would explain everything so well. She would never make you feel incompetent if you didn't know something and she would find ways to help you understand a difficult concept. I think UK is very lucky to have her and any student that does their externship here will be very lucky to work with her!"
