Miscellaneous comments:

Our busy practice sees a lot of ocular disease and emergencies. The students will gain knowledge in anterior segment and more confidence in treatment. Our practice is a Dry Eye center where we get patients referred to us for dry eye treatment from other doctors in the area. Students will have good experience with diagnosing and treating dry eyes.

Student Review

During my time at Quality Eye Care I was able to see many patients and improve my efficiency. A lot of the patients I saw were simple refractions, refractive amblyopia (mostly due to lots of cyl) and dry eye/blepharitis. This clinic really pushes dry eye treatment (blephex, lipiflow etc) to almost every patient. The first few weeks  there is a lot of observation (the goal being that you can understand the flow of the clinic before you start seeing patients). This is helpful the first few days but can get repetitive. At times you are observing in the pretest room (watching the techs do auto refraction, iCare, lipiscan etc) for several full days and that would get frustrating. After the observation period, I was able to see a lot of patients. An OMD comes in once per month and does consults for refractive surgery, glaucoma and cataracts and you get to observe. I was not challenged to the extent that I was anticipating at this rotation however, I grew in my ability to preform efficient refractions and assess the anterior segment/dry eye.
