Arrival procedure for students:
Contact Dr. Colegrove at least 6 weeks in advance. Arrive at Metairie and meet Dr. Colegrove on the 1st floor of Metairie clinic at 8:00 AM. Please contact Linda Lambert (504-842-3267) for orientation requirements. These requirements should be completed BEFORE starting rotation. Mail vaccination records and CPR certification to Linda Lambert (llambert@ochsner.org) prior to arriving, or bring with you for first day. You need an up to date TB test. There is an extensive background check - please check with site early for details. You are responsible for obtaining a 9 panel drug screening ( ~$50-100) prior to the start of the rotation.

"Ochsner Clinic provided an extensive educational experience, from direct patient care to surgical observation. Dr. Colegrove was great to work with, and he provided an array of opportunities to meet and work with other doctors, as well, to better understand the workings of a medical/hospital setting, and to follow through with doctors who many of his referrals are made to. With multiple optometrists in the Ochsner network, it was a great chance to follow, observe, and work with doctors in differing specialities like low vision, cornea, contact lens, etc., and learn new techniques and styles of interacting with patients. While Dr. Colegrove mostly works alongside the student clinician and is in the room for the majority of patient care, usually switching off between patient care and EHR documenting, there are many opportunities to work one-on-one with patients, as well."
