Student Review

My expectations for this rotation were easily succeeded. I improved as a clinician far more than I would have thought I would starting out. For the first few weeks, students are expected to work patients up start to finish while they get used to flow, familiar with attendings and with the EHR. Eventually, all of your exams will be DFE/SLE only with techs doing most of the OCT/HVFs required. The attendings place a high priority on BIO/90 skills and you'll improve immensely. There isn't a lot of 'hand holding' through patient care as you're expected to know how to manage/treat the patients you see and if not you'll be expected to independently look it up and present to attendings. Overall, this was a great site and each of the attendings teach in their own unique ways. Many times the attendings will pull you from your exam and show you interesting conditions as they present which was extremely valuable in seeing rarer pathology.
