Description

With 12 ophthalmologist, 9 optometrist, 3 locations and over 100 employees, Illinois Eye Center is the premier referral center in central Illinois for eye care. We offer a same day, urgent clinic, along with primary eye care, and subspecialities including glaucoma retina, cornea and oculoplastic.

We do ask that student externs have proof of vaccination for hepatitis B, COVID, and flu as well as proof of a completed national criminal background check.

Objectives:

1. To develop critical think skills that lead to efficient decision-making in a high pace MD/OD referral center, thereby creating an improved outcome for both routine and urgent patient care.

2. To work effectively with others, including improving communication amongst healthcare professionals and patients.

3. To gain proficiency and hone skills in a variety of optometric techniques, as well as with various instruments, used for both routine and urgent care.
