Description
Single location private practice located in rural Northwest Illinois offering services to people of all ages and backgrounds. We pride ourselves on offering the best eye care and eye wear in the region. Founded in 1985 and currently operating with four Optometrists and 11 staff members. Best In Sight is also a long-standing member of Vision Source and a respected member of the community.
Objectives:
1.) Advance in patient communication techniques to ensure ethical and respectful clinical decision making. Focusing on honest communication and integrity is vital to ensure the dignity of all patients. Learning how to effectively communicate and converse with patients to build long lasting rapport while relaying clinical findings. Being proficient, professional, and empathetic in discussions with all patients is a major focus of our practice.
2.) Learn how to effectively diagnose, manage, treat or refer, and bill basic ocular (as well as systemic) disease findings. This encompasses managing patients of all ages (pediatric to geriatric), social and economic backgrounds, as well as system conditions.
3.) Understanding how technology, specialty services, product offerings, as well as a changing health care marketplace affect private practice sustainability. Also evaluating how the scope of practice and modalities of optometry differ between fields of practice. Helping the next generation of optometrists find their place in the future of our profession.

Miscellaneous comments:
Students will be scheduled 1 patient per hour during business hours. Once the student has completed their exam, they will discuss the case with their attending doctor, the attending doctor will then check the patient. There will be an hour scheduled daily for a lunch break. Weekly we will also schedule a grand rounds/journal club conference held with doctors over lunch.
We will be reaching out to the OMDs within our referral network to hopefully set up a day or two to observe in other clinics (cataract surgery, retina, etc).
