Description
Fall Quarter only*
We attract ambitious and motivated students who should be prepared to study, read, and research cases after clinic hours. Reading or journal assignments may be given to enhance students’ learning. It is our belief in your 4th year to do as much learning and reading as possible outside of clinic hours to grow knowledge. No days are the same and the types of cases we see may be challenging and atypical of routine examinations (if you enjoy grand rounds type cases, they are almost seen on a daily basis in our clinic).
We provide a safe, friendly, and professional environment for students to maximize their learning. Aptitude can be trained; attitude and professionalism carry enormous weight. Students should have a high level of emotional intelligence towards patient care and teachability index (willingness to learn).
Learning Objectives:
1) Learn a new piece of knowledge or skill daily.
2) Realize the importance of continuing education and self-directed study habits to prepare for patient care and the rapidly evolving scope and practice of Optometry.
3) Have a better understanding of practicing Optometry in Ontario and Canada
