Externs will gain experience in comprehensive primary care eye exams, enhancing their patient care, knowledge, and clinical skills while working with a diverse and underrepresented patient population.

Learning Objectives: 

• Enable externs to apply knowledge in a practical setting by engaging in hands-on patient care. Encourage them to develop clinical skills such as patient examination, diagnostic testing, and treatment planning under supervision.

• Encourage externs to integrate an evidence-based approach into their clinical decision-making. Set a goal for them to review current literature and apply relevant findings to patient care. Foster critical thinking in the process.

• Assist externs in developing effective time management and organizational skills in a clinical setting. Set goals for them to prioritize tasks, manage their schedules, and efficiently handle patient load.
