Description
Established private practice devoted to specialty contact lens fittings. Students will gain significant experience with keratoconus, transplant, and a multitude of irregular corneal conditions. Upon completion of this rotation, students should be competent with sclerals, hybrids, RGP and orthokeratology fittings along with with all myopia control options. Specialty testing includes retinal camera, OCT, pachymetry, topography, tomography, scleral typographer, miboflow, anterior segment camera and HVF,
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Identify, diagnose, and treat keratoconus patients to the standard of care including referral process for cross cross-linking and RGP/Hybrid/Scleral lens fitting.
Confidently identify proper billing procedures and documentation protocol pertaining to routine exams, specialty fitting and specialty lens designs.
Be able to recommend and fit an array of contact lens designs for any type of patient including myopia control management.

Arrival procedure for students:
The student should arrive @ 7:00 am the first day. They should have been in contact with Dr. Holland by phone or email well in advance of the first day. The first week will be a lighter schedule to grasp the office flow and documentation system.

As of March 2021- Dr. Holland is in the process of purchasing a condo for students to rent. Contact him for information and availability. Otherwise, there is an agreement with Erik's Ranch in Edina for a fully furnished studio apartment, with free laundry and gym ( some with kitchenettes) for $900/month, utilities and internet included. Just let them know that you are a student at the practice.

Student Review
Best rotation of all the ones I have been on. Clinic sees you much more in the role of a doctor and there is a great amount of hands on exposure to all specialty lenses and basic fits as well. Every patient is a challenge and you learn a lot.
