Ophthalmology clinic with 4 MD's (3 glaucoma, 1 general) and OD offering full scope with all doctors providing primary eyecare with a significant emphasis on glaucoma, cataracts and anterior segment.

Objectives:

1) Improve comfort with problem based testing; understanding when tests are indicated and using case hx and clinical findings to determine differential diagnosis and applicable testing to make final diagnosis.

2) Enhance glaucoma related knowledge base; managing all types of glaucoma with routine exposure to elevated IOPs (acute and chronic cases) with full- scope glaucoma therapies (gtts/pills, lasers, MIGS, incisional surgeries, etc).

3) Increase exposure to ocular pathology; primarily glaucoma, cataracts, anterior segment, and urgent care cases.

Miscellaneous comments:

Students will spend the majority of their time working with Dr. Young but will also have the opportunity to work with the other doctors. They will primarily be seeing patients in the clinic (with OD/MD oversight), but will also have the opportunity to learn testing (OCT/HVF, etc), OR observation, MD observation, etc all pending their overall interest level.

Students will see many patients on a daily basis; emphasizing their case history, test selection, technical skills, and management decisions. Doctors will personally examine and diagnose each patient.
