Description
The CVC Externship Program is a high volume, diverse age patient population with care delivered in a rapid paced environment. Cases vary and include different levels of complexity, with most at the secondary and tertiary level. Technology is state-of-the-art.
Our clinics offer interns exposure to maximum scope with multiple pathologies and care; primary care, extensive contact lens care including specialty contact lenses, optometric surgery and an ocular MASH unit.
Interns rotate between two clinics and different attendings, some surgical; both OD and MD surgeons.
Training is accomplished thru patient care, observation, seminars, grand rounds and independent study.
As a member of the CVC staff the intern is expected to attend and participate in CVC staff meetings, trainings and retreats. These sessions expose the intern to the inner workings and practice management intricacies of a private practice.

Student Review
"My overall educational experience at the Cheyenne Vision Clinic was second to none. All of the doctors there truly care about your education and want you to get the most out of this rotation. They push you to become the best doctor you can be. It's a pretty fast-paced clinic and they keep you busy, which at first can be overwhelming but the doctors always check up on you to make sure you can handle it. You see a wide variety of anterior and posterior segment diseases. I saw a ton of herpes keratitis, recurrent corneal erosions, corneal dystrophies, foreign bodies, retinal tears, solar maculopathies, AMD, diabetes, and glaucoma. They also send you to the Eye Center of Northern Colorado in Fort Collins for a couple weeks to shadow the ophthalmologists and watch surgeries. CVC really is a full-scope medical private practice and I became way more confident in diagnosis and treatment after this rotation."
