Student Review

"As a busy OD/MD practice externs are given a multitude of opportunities to learn at this site. Externs mainly work-up patients but are able to complete the DFEs for patients seen by the ODs and (by rotation) follow and see patients by shadowing the MDs. We were able to follow Dr. Braverman in surgery and saw lots of cataract surgeries but also LASIK, PRK, and pterygium removals. We also rotated and followed a retuna specialist at a different office location and followed the same doctor into surgery for an afternoon. Dr. H also designated Thursdays to "lectures" where we covered topics ranging from billing and coding to cataract pre- and post/op care. All the doctors (including the residents!) the students were able to work with were very approachable and extremely knowledgeable. I think the Braverman Eye Center was a great first experience out of the school's clinical setting."
